At Filtermakers Australia, we focus on providing custom-made HEPA filters for air filtration, extraction and industrial air-conditioning systems. We provide a range of filters and air purifiers including HEPA air filters, aircon filters, liquid filters and more.
Available in a variety of frames and separator materials, our range is suitable for a variety of specialised commercial and industrial applications. Designed for us in hospitals, restaurants, pharmaceutical and laboratories and more, we can provide custom HEPA filters for HVAC systems, HEPA filters for cleanrooms and air purifiers, medical-grade HEPA filters, as well as expert HEPA filter replacement and installation.
How Does a HEPA Air Filter Work?
A true HEPA filter (high-efficiency particulate air) consists of a network of interlaced fibres that are twisted and turned to form a fibrous maze. This network traps the air inside and prevents harmful particles such as smoke, pet dander, dust and so on from entering. HEPA air filters are one of the most cost-effective and efficient filters commercially available. Particles are filtered out in the following ways:
- Impaction – The larger particles that are too heavy to flow with the air get trapped in the filter fibres
- Sieving – Particles gets caught between the filter fibres as the particle is larger than the gap between fibres
- Interception – Smaller particles that follow the air stream and get caught in the filter fibres, providing the diameter of the particles is larger than the gaps in the filter
- Diffusion – Small particles move erratically through the air stream and this irregular movement makes it more likely they will get caught in the filter fibres

HEPA Filter Applications
Our FMHE H13 HEPA Filters are classified as Grade 2 H13 to AS1324.1-2001, AS4260-1997 & EN779/ EN1882, and are tested at 99.99% to 0.3 microns.
Our FMHE Bio HEPA Filters are classified as H10 to EN1882 and are tested at 95% to 0.3 microns.
- Our HEPA H10 / H13 / H14 filters can purify large volumes of air and are used for supply and air-filtration of various ventilation systems that require clean and sterile air
- Our filters are used in hospital operating theatres and intensive care units (ICUs)
- They are used in sensitive industrial areas such as pharmaceutical processing, food engineering, precision engineering, and cosmetics manufacturing
- Our HEPA filters can handle a range of toxic substances including heavy metals, asbestos and carcinogenic dust in all industrial applications
- They are used in research at laboratories and in the nuclear industry
- Our HEPA Filters remove the contaminated toxins such as smoke fumes, fungi and bacteria
As part of our services we provide free quotations for all work, service inspections and free reports, as well as trace dye/leak testing and ducting supplies and installation services.

Exclusive Properties of our HEPA Filters
Our high-efficiency bio HEPA filters are constructed from a supported pleat media within a rigid frame. The HEPA filters have been designed for use in hospital critical areas, food and pharmaceutical processing, precision manufacturing operations and laboratories, where very high-efficiency filtration of the fine particulate matter is necessary to remove airborne biological contaminants.
The FMHE HEPA filters are made from high-quality ultra-fine glass impregnated pleated fibrous media to provide a superior surface area for size. The impregnated pleated media is designed to the highest quality and can remove contaminants such as bacteria, fungi, smoke, fume and virus bearing droplets.
